Hi All,
I was very pleased to read the inquiry questions for the majority of the sixth grade. If your child has not gotten you to sign the one page inquiry page please ask to see the paper. Everyday the paper is late is a point of the total score. It is amazing that no two students chose the same topic.

The book fair starts on Monday please stop by and check out the variety of books.

The Veterans' Day Assembly is Friday November 11 at 9:45. Please plan to attend several Veterans will be in attendance.

Dear Families,

VUES is excited to announce that we will be having a 5th and 6th grade Spelling Team this year. Our goal is to have a team of 6 students that will compete in the district wide Spelling Competition with the chance to move on and compete at the state level.
We will meet on Tuesday’s from 3:30-4:30 in Mrs. Paquette’s room starting September 27 and ending November 15. This will be part of the Fusion program as well, so the Fusion paperwork needs to be filled out. Any student who is interested is encouraged to be part of the team. We need a team of 6 and will choose the top 6 spellers out of the group to compete. We will learn and practice strategies to compete in the VPA sponsored spelling bee as well as, play games and practice, practice, practice. Before the district competition we will hold an in house practice meet which will determine the top 6 spellers that will go on to the next round and compete for our school. Here is the link to the Vermont Principals’ Association webpage. It provides information about the competition and word lists: http://www.vpaonline.org/domain/42.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me, Nicole Paquette, Spelling Bee Coach.

Thank you,
Nicole Paquette

Hi All,

  • Please check student backpacks for field trip permission slip and school newsletter.
  • Some students have not brought the White Tee Shirt 100% cotton for best results in Tie-dying.
  • We are also looking for earbuds or headphones for some students. We will be using the chromebooks on a regular basis especially in math and social studies since we have online access to the book.
  • The school also sent several forms to complete on the first day we will need some of that information on the field trip. Please complete and send them in with your child.
Thank you enjoy the long weekend with your family.

August 2016

Dear Grade 6 Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to sixth grade.   I hope each of you had a fantastic summer.  I am very excited to work with you and your child.  I know this year will be a great one, filled with a wide variety of learning experiences for us. As a sixth grade teacher I stress academic and non-academic areas to help prepare your child for middle school. This is a very important year and I will encourage your child to become an independent learner and to understand the value of good study habits.

I think that communication is the important for students to be successful. Your child will be bringing home a student planner which will be used for homework and notes for communication. Please sign the planner Monday through Thursday to verify you have seen the assignments that are due (not that you have seen the completed work) sometimes assignments are completed at school. This year I started a blog it can be located at the Vergennes Elementary School webpage under faculty webpages or (http://vuesgrade6.blogspot.com/). The blog will be updated regularly to keep you current with new projects or upcoming events.

Mr. Sam and I are hosting a welcome to sixth grade parent night on August 25 at 6 pm the new principal, Mr. Deblois will also be there to meet the incoming sixth grade families.

If you have anything to share don’t hesitate to call (877-3761) or email me (rwenzel@anwsu.org). Thank you in advance for your support. By working together, we can make this a wonderful year for all of us. You are a very important part of our sixth grade team.

Fondly,

Rose Wenzel
